For Pet Lovers Of All Ages! Located on more than 300 acres of rolling hills right outside of St. Louis, Purina Farms, home to the Visitor Center and the Purina Event Center, offers pet lovers an opportunity to get up close and personal with barnyard animals and performing pets at the Visitor Center as well as distinguished purebred dogs and pedigreed cats at the Purina Event Center.
Families will find lots of activities at the Visitor Center including a hayloft play area, cow-milking demonstrations and tractor-drawn wagon rides. Educational exhibits and hands-on activities teach kids about responsible pet care, the history of Purina and the process for making pet food. A couple times each day, Purina Farms trainers and their dogs wow guests with exciting performances of flying disc, agility and diving dog. The dogs, which were primarily rescued from shelters and rescue groups around the country, are living proof that with premium, high-quality nutrition, proper expert training and lots of unconditional love that any dog has the ability to achieve greatness. During a performance, the dogs vault off a trainer’s back to snag a flying disc in mid-air, catch multiple long-distance flying disc throws in a row, perform acrobatic and balancing acts like flipping and weaving backwards through the trainers’ legs and then land jumps of more than 22’ in the diving dog pool. All set to music, the performances are fun and educational as the trainers emphasize the importance of responsible pet ownership by providing helpful tips for having a well-balanced, healthy and loving relationship with a pet.
Visitors can also enjoy browsing unique items in the Purina Farms gift shop and enjoying a snack at the concession stand. At select times throughout the year, Purina Farms hosts annual special events timed around holidays including Springtime Village in April where all of the baby animals on the property take center stage and then Haunted Hayloft in October where kids can participate in costume contests, paint pumpkins, enjoy magic shows and go trick-or-treating in the hayloft. The Pet-acular Holiday Bazaar in December gives kids, kids at heart and dogs the opportunity to get their photos taken with Santa as well as shop for unique gifts, play games and enjoy festive food fare.
Purina Farms is one of the best places to go for memorable birthday parties that include kids’ meals, customized cupcakes, gift shop discounts and a group wagon ride. Plus, the birthday boy or girl is recognized during one of the daily canine performances where the birthday party gets front row seats for all the action.
